An Exhibition at Çinçiva School

Between 19 October and 1 November 2024, Moyy Atölye hosted a special exhibition in

Çamlıhemşin.

The exhibition “Habitat” by botanical artist Işık Güner, who lives in the Fırtına Valley, took

place in the former elementary school in the village of Çinçiva.

For many years, Işık Güner has been studying and documenting wild plants in different

parts of the world, especially in Turkey. She is known for her botanical illustrations that

depict plants with great scientific accuracy. She also lives and works in the valley.

The “Habitat” exhibition brought together a selection of works she created over the years in

different regions.

The exhibition highlights the richness of biodiversity in nature and reminds us of the

importance of protecting natural habitats that are increasingly under threat. Through her

botanical drawings, the artist invites viewers to reflect on the fragility of nature.

As Moyy Atölye, we were happy to organize the opening and installation of the exhibition.

We chose to hold the exhibition in Çinçiva School, a building established by the local

community in 1910 as an elementary school. Today, the building remains an important

cultural landmark and part of the valley’s collective memory.

For some time now, together with people living in the region and other artists, we have

been working to bring this historic building back to life as a Honey Museum and a cultural

and art space.

For this reason, the “Habitat” exhibition was not only an art event, but also an important

step toward bringing this historic building back into public life.

The exhibition also served as a preview of Işık Güner’s upcoming book titled “Habitat.”
