Nestled in one of the most peaceful and distinctive corners of Cunda Island, Ortunç is set within a secluded bay surrounded by pine forests. Across the water, the silhouette of Lesbos stretches along the horizon, while the sea and forest blend seamlessly into one another, creating a sense of timelessness. The changing light throughout the day, the shifting shades of the sea, and the quiet stillness of the bay all become part of the experience of being here.

One of Ortunç’s defining qualities is its understated approach to comfort, one that values simplicity, calmness, and quiet ease over ostentatious luxury. Perhaps for this reason, it feels like a place that gently invites its guests to slow down, look around, and step away from the demands of everyday life.

At the heart of this story are Necla and Orhan Tunç. Their paths crossed during the years when Necla was working as an opera singer, a meeting that would eventually shape the course of her life. For a time, they found themselves returning to Cunda again and again. Gradually, this bay became more than just a place they visited; it evolved into their home and the centre of their daily lives.
In its early years, this way of life was shared mainly with family, close friends, and fellow artists. Over time, it gradually opened its doors to more people, and the story of Ortunç began to take shape. Through the years, and with the contributions of the next generation, it evolved into what it is today, while taking care to preserve the sense of warmth and sincerity that has been part of it from the very beginning.

For Necla, Ortunç has never been simply a place of work; it has also been her home and the world she belongs to. She has lived here for many years, spending her days, her seasons, and a significant part of her life in this bay. For this reason, it is difficult to speak about Ortunç without mentioning Necla , just as it is difficult to speak about Necla without mentioning Ortunç. Over the years, the two have become inseparable parts of one another. Necla ’s calm presence, simplicity, and approach to life seem to be reflected in the atmosphere of Ortunç itself. Perhaps some of the sense of tranquility and timelessness that is felt here comes from that connection.
