Çamlıhemşin is a district of Rize, located in the mountainous region of the Eastern Black Sea. It covers a wide area with hundreds of villages and highland pastures, spread across the Kaçkar Mountains and their foothills. Dense forests, rich water sources, valleys and high-altitude landscapes create strong natural patterns and ecological diversity. Many areas in the region are under special protection, and life here develops with care, awareness and responsibility toward nature.
Life in this region is shaped in harmony with natural conditions. Climate, altitude, water availability and seasonal cycles affect not only nature, but also settlement patterns, production and daily life. The location of villages, the architecture of houses, the materials used and the organisation of living spaces are direct results of these conditions. Architecture is practical, durable and closely connected to the land.

Production in Çamlıhemşin and its surroundings is not uniform. Different villages, different elevations and different environmental conditions shape different ways of producing. Weaving, woodwork, basket making and other handmade practices develop according to local resources and rhythms. Production grows out of a close relationship with nature.
Life here is based on balance rather than speed. Production follows the pace of nature and unfolds over time through labour and care. What is made gains meaning within the continuity of both natural and cultural life.
MOYY Atölye was founded within this context. Its production is shaped by local ways of living, traditional knowledge and long-established relationships with nature. The aim is not to transform or expand these practices, but to sustain them, make them visible and pass them on to the future.
Çamlıhemşin is the living environment in which MOYY Atölye’s production approach naturally takes shape. Its natural richness, local architecture, production culture and distinctive ways of life nourish how work is done. What is produced develops in harmony with the conditions of this layered landscape, bringing together life, production and continuity.
